NanoEner

Ener1’s subsidiary NanoEner provides a strong research and development operation in nano materials and the related nanotechnology field. This effort enables innovation in performance and efficiency across a wide variety of applications, from raw materials and nano powders to ultra-thin film coatings. The research conducted at NanoEner is often channeled toward enhancing technology developed at EnerDel. In addition to primary and rechargeable batteries, applications for NanoEner’s technology include super capacitors, electronic devices, wires, sensors and fuel cell membranes. NanoEner has also developed vapor deposition solidification (VDS) and high-pressure vapor deposition solidification (HDS) processes and equipment that allow for low cost, high speed manufacturing of materials at the nanoscale.

The development of new applications has a significant impact on industries including materials, chemicals, biotechnology, computing, semiconductors and defense. Currently, the National Science Foundation attributes a $1 trillion impact from nanotechnology over the next 10-15 years as this technology moves toward commercialization.
